Commercial Asbestos Testing FAQs

How do I know if my commercial project has asbestos containing materials

In Commercial Buildings Asbestos can be found in Ceiling Tiles, Drywall Texture, Joint Compound, Flooring/Glue, Floor Tiles, HVAC Ducts, Boilder Wrap, Piping Wrap, Roofing Sealers, Fire Proofing, Partitions and more. The only certain way to know if building materials contain asbestos is to sample each material separately.

EnvioCore can dig into the suspect building materials, collect the appropriate samples as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). We will then provide you with a detailed report outlining all the findings for the suspect materials. This report will let you apply for any necessary building permits so you can continue your project.

I have applied for my building permit. Why is the city/county asking for an asbestos inspection?

This is a normal request. Your city or county is required by the state of Colorado to ask for this information. To read the state bulletin explaining the general requirements, click here.

What can we do once we have the asbestos inspection complete?

Once we have taken samples and had them analyzed we will send you the final report with the findings. With this you are able to perform abatement on any materials that have greater than 1% asbestos. In Colorado if the project is not an emergency there is a 10 day waiting period while the state approves the permit to start asbestos abatement. Typically your GAC Asbestos abatement contractor will start this process for you. If no asbestos is found then you can continue on with your project.
